Two minutes to your first count.
TALLY arrives ready, with the latest firmware already on it. It just needs a small free helper on your computer, TALLY Link, to bring it your figures.
Plug TALLY in.
Use any USB-C data cable, like the one from your phone. TALLY wakes up and shows its demo until step 2 is done.
Install TALLY Link.
Paste one line, once. It takes about a minute, needs no administrator password and starts by itself whenever you log in.
curl -fsSL https://tallymeter.io/link/install.sh | bashOpen Terminal (Applications › Utilities › Terminal), paste, press Return.
irm https://tallymeter.io/link/install.ps1 | iexOpen PowerShell (Start, type "PowerShell"), paste, press Enter.
Watch it count.
Within about 20 seconds TALLY switches from its demo to your real Claude and OpenAI limits: the 5-hour session, the week, and when each one resets.
Why the helper runs on your computer.
Your Claude and OpenAI sign-ins already live on your computer, in the Claude app, Claude Code and Codex. TALLY Link reads the usage those apps already have and asks Anthropic and OpenAI for your own plan limits with those same sign-ins. Then it sends only the numbers to TALLY over the cable: percentages and reset times.
So you never type a password into TALLY, there is no TALLY account, your chats are never read, and nothing is sent to us.
If something's not right
TALLY stays on its demo
Use a USB-C data cable (charge-only cables can't carry figures), try another USB port and avoid unpowered hubs. Then run the install line again: it ends by showing what it can see.
It says Claude isn't found
Open the Claude desktop app once and sign in. For the exact figures from Claude › Settings › Usage with both reset times, also connect Claude Code. On a Mac: curl -fsSL https://tallymeter.io/link/connect-claude.sh | bash. On Windows, install Claude Code with irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex, run claude once and sign in with the same account.
It says OpenAI isn't found
Install Codex and sign in once with your ChatGPT account. TALLY Link picks it up by itself.
How do I remove TALLY Link?
Mac: curl -fsSL https://tallymeter.io/link/uninstall.sh | bash. Windows: irm https://tallymeter.io/link/uninstall.ps1 | iex.
Can I read what it runs first?
Of course. Open install.sh, install.ps1 and tally_link.py in your browser. The installer checks TALLY Link's fingerprint against manifest.json before it runs it.
